The actives and the oils
Sucrose is ordinary sugar, from sugar cane or sugar beet. In a scrub it is used as fine crystals.
The crystals polish away flaky skin, then dissolve with the warmth and moisture of your lips, so the scrub softens as you go. Sugar also draws in water.
