Olive oil is pressed from the fruit of the olive tree. It is rich in oleic acid, which makes it feel richer than linoleic-rich oils such as sunflower.

Why it’s in a formula
It is a softening, moisturising oil. In a body scrub it cushions the exfoliant and leaves skin feeling supple once rinsed.
- A small 2013 study found that neat olive oil, applied twice a day for weeks, weakened the skin barrier in adults, where sunflower oil didn't. Used neat as a leave-on oil, it isn't the best choice for very dry or eczema-prone skin.

Is olive oil good for your skin?
It softens well, but used neat as a leave-on oil it can weaken the barrier of dry, sensitive skin. In a rinse-off scrub it is there to soften.
