Silica
Cosmetic silica is amorphous silicon dioxide, a very fine, soft powder. It isn't the crystalline silica that is a hazard to workers who breathe in quarry dust.

Is silica safe in makeup?
Yes. The silica used in cosmetics is amorphous, which is different from the crystalline silica linked to lung disease in industrial workers. As with any loose powder, don't breathe it in.
Is silica vegan?
Yes. It is a mineral.
Is silica the same as silicone?
No. Silica is a mineral, silicon dioxide, used as a fine powder. Silicones are synthetic polymers made from silicon, and they end in -methicone or -siloxane on a list.
