Questions
Does zinc oxide in foundation give sun protection?
Not reliably. Only products tested and labelled with an SPF protect you.
Is zinc oxide the same as titanium dioxide?
No, though both are white mineral pigments that also scatter UV light. In makeup both whiten and give coverage; zinc oxide is also gently soothing and slightly mattifying. Neither makes a product a sunscreen unless it has been tested and labelled with an SPF.
