Why it’s in a formula

Are silicones bad for skin?
For most people, no. They are inert and well tolerated. Some prefer to avoid them for environmental reasons.
Is dimethicone vegan?
Yes. It is synthetic.
What is the difference between dimethicone and cyclopentasiloxane?
Dimethicone stays on the skin as a smooth, silky film. Cyclopentasiloxane is volatile: it evaporates after application and leaves a light, dry finish. It is one of the cyclic silicones the EU restricts in wash-off products, and has moved to restrict in leave-on products too, for environmental reasons.
